An evening in Dotonbori: sort out dinner, then enjoy the lights
A short evening is all you need for neon photos and a stroll by the river. Rather than a long list of places, focus on two things: where dinner is, and how you get home.
Settle these before you go
- Dinner: Check the restaurant's halal status, your reservation and its last-order time.
- Prayer: Look up local times and confirm access to prayer and wudu facilities for when you need them.
- The trip back: Note the last train for your date and give yourself time to find the right platform.
Eat first, or walk first?
Begin with a halal restaurant you have already checked for status and last orders. An early booking means eating first. A later one gives you time for a short Dotonbori walk beforehand. Have a backup meal option in case anything changes.
Before you lock in dinner, look up local Maghrib and Isha times. Make sure your prayer stop is open at those times and that wudu facilities are available.

A short loop is enough
Use these two pins to find your way around the river. Once you have confirmed your restaurant's details, add it as your own pin.
- Ebisubashi: The bridge area is where people take the Glico sign photo. Step out of the way when you are done, especially if it is busy.
- Tombori Riverwalk: Follow the river only as far as your family feels comfortable. Turning back early is fine; there is no need to finish a loop.

Do this before you leave your hotel
Save your route back and the last-train time for the day you are travelling. Allow time to locate your platform at Namba. Restaurant signs and the street photo in this article are not halal verification.
