When it rains in Japan, stay in the same area and swap the activity
A good wet-weather plan keeps you close. Have one indoor option near where you are staying, or in the neighbourhood you were already going to.
Adjust part of the day, not all of it
Slippery steps, soggy socks and worn-out children are not solved by an umbrella. Hold on to the meal and prayer stops you already planned and cut back the time outdoors. One indoor place nearby beats three spread around town.
The same day in three kinds of weather
Dry and clear: keep it simple outside
Between your activity and your meal, a short walk or a park close by works well. Look at the forecast once more before you go.
- Walk / park
- Meal + prayer
- Return
Wet: new activity, same neighbourhood
Swap the long walk for a museum or workshop you have already checked. Make sure the way to your meal and prayer stops is fine in the rain too.
- Indoor activity
- Meal + prayer
- Return early
Warnings or disruption: put the outing off
Do what local authorities and transport operators tell you. Sort out meals and prayer somewhere safe. Using a ticket is not a good enough reason to go out.
- Check instructions
- Arrange essentials
- Replan
This is an example scenario, not a live forecast. Check official weather and service updates.

Checks before you step out
- Look at the local forecast and any disruption notices from transport operators.
- On the new route, line up halal meals and prayer and wudu access you have confirmed.
- Bring a rain layer, sensible shoes and a bag to hold wet things.
It is fine to cut the day short
If there are warnings or service problems, follow local guidance and postpone your plans. Staying in to rest at your accommodation is a real option. Already-paid tickets are not a reason to push ahead.
