Your landing time and the time you actually reach the city centre are two different things. Plan space for airport procedures, picking up luggage, eating and praying.
It is fine to plan nothing on day one
After touchdown you still have immigration, the baggage hall and the trip into town. Give everyone time to eat, pray and rest. If people still have energy in the evening, a walk is a nice extra, not part of the plan.
Touchdown is not check-in
Landing time, in Japan time
Go by the arrival time printed on your ticket.
Your buffer after landing
Leave time for arrival procedures, collecting bags and sorting essentials before you set off.
Getting to the hotel, door to door
Count waiting, changing trains and walking, not only the time spent on board.
The starting figures are only examples. This is not a train timetable, a promise about immigration times or a prayer timetable. Check with operators and with your hotel about access.
Have one full route saved
- The exact airport and terminal shown on your ticket, not only the city.
- The transport operator, the station you are heading to, any changes, and the exit nearest your hotel.
- The last services on the day you arrive, plus a fallback in case your flight is late.
- The hotel's check-in times and how to reach them if you will be late.
Eat and pray before the long ride in
Use the airport's own website to check halal options and prayer and wudu access in the terminal you will use. If anything is unclear, contact the operator. Some facilities may sit in an area you cannot get to.
